Recommendations for Seniors
We often make different recommendations for seniors because age, comfort, cost, function, and long-term goals can change what treatment makes the most sense. A younger adult might choose a root canal and crown to preserve a tooth for many decades, while an older adult may prefer a simpler and less expensive extraction in some situations.
Preventive, Practical Care
For elder patients, we try to avoid expensive or invasive treatment when it is not necessary. If there are no signs of infection or severe pain, preventive treatments can be easier and more affordable. We may use Silver Diamine Fluoride (SDF), which can help slow decay and avoid more invasive procedures. If a patient prefers a different procedure, we are happy to discuss it as long as it is safe.

Weekly Visits
FDG Mobile comes once per week to brush the elder’s teeth and ask questions to make sure there is no tooth pain or other concern.
Every 4 Months
FDG Mobile comes every four months for a complete exam, necessary radiographs, and cleaning.
FDGP Discount Plan
The elder is enrolled in FDGP, which the old site described as a 100% discount on routine procedures and a 65% discount on most other dental procedures.
